The beer selection on tap, listed above the bar on a screen, consists of flagship beers and seasonal flavors. Flagship Beers include the “Trail Blaze Organic Brown Ale” and the “Mountain Lager.” They are offered along with monthly specials, such as my current favorite brew, the “Grinnin’ Grizzly Spiced Ale,” which is perfect for Christmas.
The Appalachian Brewing Company also produces their own Root Beer, Ginger Beer and Birch Beer, which is fresh and always on tap. All beers are available to take home in growlers or select a six-pack from the fridge on your way out, located next to the cashier.
ABC, as they are also known, isn’t just known for beer, and I can’t say enough about the food, whether you are just grabbing a snack or enjoying a meal. One of the favorites on the menu is the Switchback Burger, loaded with apple-wood smoked bacon, cappicola ham, caramelized onions, and topped with provolone cheese and a Root Beer BBQ Sauce. The sauce really pulls it together for a mouthwatering treat.
Another original of the Appalachian Brewing Company is the Mile High Meatloaf, and it is extremely popular with the dinner crowd. A Black Angus meatloaf, served on Texas toast, and topped with mashed potatoes and gravy made from their Susquehanna Stout. Grab one on tap while you are there to really make your meal. If you are just in the mood for a quick bite, try the PA Pretzel logs, “Craisy” Baked Brie, or the Blackened Tuna Strips.
If you haven’t had a chance to make it down to the Collegeville ABC, located in Collegeville Station, it’s worth the trip, for a cold beer, or a meal. It’s a great addition to the Phoenixville area, and fast becoming one of my favorite places to grab a local brew.
